Begay, Steven
Steven C. Begay, a Navajo grew up in Coalmine Mesa, Arizona. He attended boarding school in Tuba City, high school in California and private school in Massachusetts. He attended college in California, and earned a BS in Accountancy from Arizona State University. Steve speaks Navajo, English and some Spanish, and has two daughters and one son. He has worked in the Navajo government in auditing, taxation, land administration, governmental budgeting, contracts and grants, business and community development and energy development. His experiences include, Agent for the Navajo Voters Coalition, Inc., a nonprofit organization, a Senior Accountant with the Navajo Head Start Program, and the General Manager of the Diné Power Authority where he worked on the Navajo Transmission Project and the Desert Rock Energy Project. Mr. Begay served as the Executive Director of the Office of Navajo Tax Commission, and as the Executive Director of the Division of Economic Development. He was an Accounting Manager for the Fort McDowell Gaming Center. Steve is a dedicated person and wants to help bring jobs, investments, revenues, and quality of life improvements to the people. Recently, he has formed a company to work on some of his life endeavors.
